Hey Drew and Carolyn! Last night coming home from THanksgiving the van was quiet (I know you find that hard to believe!) and Char said - "I wish everyone could've been there" I could read his mind and said, "yeah I really miss Drew: and he said "me too" Of course this means Drew and Carolyn and we see you as one now!! He was very sincere and I think gave words to all our sentiments! You are really missed. It was fun to catch up on your blog today and one thing I feel thankful for is all the experiences and wonderful people you have found half way across the world - soo cool! I have to say watching the video of the expresso maker - I even feel thankful that you have such an amazing thing!!!! I guess, like you, my journal would fill up fast if I took the time to write what I am thankful for. More than anything, I'm thankful that God gives us opportunity everyday to see Him in some way or another. He hand picks those glimpses on a daily basis for us. Today i see Him in Karissa's complete joy over watching a water balloon explode in my face as I'm trying to tie it for her. I see His love as Ward so tenderly encourages Lisa after her basketball scrimmages. My heart breaks with His as a dad from the basketball team confides in me that he and his wife just separated and that she sees no value in life anymore. I'm so thankful that I can pray for this family and know that God hears me. I could go on and on. We are so thankful for you guys and for the beautiful example you are to our kids! Love you LOTS! Aunt Julie

You get the bulldog. I got a moose once. I believe it means that you'll remember that day and its greatness just a little more than if that bulldog didn't snap you out of your routine and normal so- so run. What do you think the bulldog would have said if it could have talked to you right at that moment. In my circumstance, I pictured the moose with this rastafarian hairdo and Jamaican accent saying, "Hey mon, what's your hurry...don't worry mon, be happy."
Guess what Drew, I'm writing a novel for NaNoWrimon - That's short for National Novel Writers month. You can go on line and do it too if you want to play catch up! In 15 days I am a little more than 1/2 way done ----done means getting to 50,000 words - good or bad. It's a quantity thing - not quality. But I enjoy what I'm writing about. It's kind of like praising God every day for my life and experiences that I've had so far. My novel is called - "Tears of Joy - Following my tears as they lead me to my true passions. ' Say hi to Carolyn and I hope the two of you are doing great. David and I had a date weekend and it was so fun. Part of it was seeing Kimmie play. She was beyond awesome!

I am fairly sure it means that you are to come home soon and it is running into the foggy sky overhead just as you will as you board the plane to America!

Or maybe:
He does not tire, or grow weary he just keep on running, determined to reach the goal that he cannot see but trusting that his creator can! Love you, my crazy son!

@joe & @mom: Thanks for asking you guys! It actually went amazingly well. I started the talk by asking for 2 volunteers. To the first one, I gave 10 cents, and then asked her some questions about how she felt upon receiving this gift and what she would do with the gift. To the other volunteer, I gave a 10 euro bill, and his jaw dropped! Big money for a 15 year old! I simply asked the same questions to him, which he answered, and then went on with the talk. He couldn't believe that I was actually going to let him keep the money! It was funny.

As we got into the discussion though, I used this example to show that we treat gifts of different values in different ways. As such, sex should be valued very highly, and not just thrown away as a 10 cent piece would be.

We talked in a large group for about 15 minutes, and then we split up into guys and girls. Normally, this would be about a 10 or 15 minute time. Yet, as we began discussing with the guys, it was pretty clear to see that it would be a longer conversation. We ended up talking with them for about an hour, sharing our stories as leaders, answering questions, and challenging them to think about sexuality in a new light.

It is hard to determine the impact of such an evening, but a few of the other leaders got the feedback that it was a really helpful and challenging evening, so I think that is good.

@eric, I'm still thinking about your question about what we encourage kids to do with their sexuality now to find a healthy balance. It's a good question, and one I'm still thinking about. Let me know if you have further insights!
